CBT is one of the most well-researched and widely used therapeutic approaches. It is an evidence-based treatment for depression, anxiety and other mental illnesses focusing on the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Therapy helps to recognise unhelpful thinking patterns and develop better coping strategies. Numerous research studies suggest that CBT leads to significant improvement in functioning and quality of life.
-
ACT is an evidence-based therapy that helps people develop psychological flexibility - the ability to stay present, open and connected, even in the face of difficult thoughts, emotions and life challenges. Rather than trying to eliminate distressing thoughts or feelings, ACT helps individuals create space for them, while building a meaningful life guided by their values.

MI is often integrated with other therapies like CBT and ACT and is a collaborative approach to therapy that helps people explore their motivation for change. It’s helpful if you’re feeling unsure and stuck about making changes in your life, helping you discover your own reasons for change.
MI is helpful when you are:
feeling stuck or uncertain about making a change in your life
managing health or lifestyle changes eg chronic pain
adjusting to major life transitions or identity shifts
-
SFT is a future-oriented approach. Instead of focusing on what’s wrong or analysing the issue in depth, SFT helps people identify what’s already working, what they want to be different and working towards developing ways to move towards that.
SFT can be helpful for those who feel:
stuck in a current situation and unsure where to start
needing clarity, motivation or short-term practical support
ready to identify small, realistic goals and move forward with confidence
