FAQ’S
-
Medicare:
If you have a current Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for therapy sessions.
This plan entitles you to rebates for up to 10 individual psychology sessions per calendar year.
Current rebate amounts (as of 1 July 2025) are $98.95 per session. The current Medicare rebate is $98.95. Out of pocket cost is $121.05
How it works:
First, visit your GP and ask for a Mental Health Care Plan referral to see a psychologist
Bring your referral to your first session (or email it before your appointment)
After each eligible session, you’ll receive the Medicare rebate
Please note:
An out-of-pocket cost (gap fee) usually applies
Medicare rebates do not apply to psychological assessments (e.g., ADHD or Autism assessments)
If you’re unsure about the process or need help getting a referral, I’m happy to guide you.
Private Health:
If you have extras cover that includes psychological services, you may be eligible for a partial rebate on therapy sessions with me.
Rebate amounts and limits vary depending on your individual health fund and level of cover.
You won’t be able to claim from both Medicare and private health for the same session.
If you’re not sure about your cover, it’s best to contact your health fund directly and ask about rebates for psychology services with a registered psychologist.
Assessments:
At this time, Medicare rebates do not apply to psychological assessments, including ADHD or Autism evaluations for adults. This means that the full cost of assessment sessions and reports is privately billed
Workers Compensation/CTP: These sessions are covered with a valid referral.
-
Private Clients: You do not need a GP referral to attend. The GP referral allows you to claim a rebate under a Mental Health Care Plan if you are eligible.
Workers Compensation: Referrals made under SIRA (Workers Compensation) attract a fee in accordance with their guidelines and fee schedule. If you are a Work Cover client; we will invoice them directly.
Private Health Fund: Please check with your policy if you are eligible for rebates.
